Hello, this is Kim Yeon-jin.

In Part 3, I’ll give you a detailed rundown of the surroundings within walking distance of UH Flat Gangnam. As a dermatology clinic director, I run UHCELL Gangnam Dermatology, located in Gangnam, so I’m fairly familiar with the Gangnam commercial district. During this visit to UH Flat Gangnam, I explored the surrounding area as well, and there was so much to cover that I decided to organize it into a separate part.

The location of UH Flat Gangnam was truly excellent. Sitting between Gangnam Station and Yeoksam Station, it puts all of Gangnam’s core commercial areas within walking distance. As a dermatology clinic director, I love Gangnam enough to have walked nearly every one of its alleys. I wrote this Part 3 based on information I checked firsthand by visiting these places myself.

OLIVE YOUNG — An Absolute Must-Visit

Location and Access

The OLIVE YOUNG Gangnam Station branch is about a 3-minute walk from Yeoksam Station Exit 3, and about an 8-minute walk from UH Flat Gangnam. Leave UH Flat and walk along Teheran-ro toward Yeoksam, and you’ll arrive in no time.

Located in the core commercial area between Gangnam Station and Yeoksam Station, it’s reachable within a 10-minute walk from the accommodation. It’s a great spot to drop by while also getting in a morning stroll.

Why OLIVE YOUNG

As a dermatology clinic director, I always emphasize the importance of everyday skincare to my patients. OLIVE YOUNG is the most perfect place to put that daily skincare into practice. UH Flat has a Samsung AirDresser, so you can take perfect care of your clothes, but to take perfect care of your skin as well, you’ll need a little help from OLIVE YOUNG.

Especially in seasons when fine dust is severe, a deodorizing spray that leaves a subtle scent on your clothes is essential, and sunscreen is something you must apply every single morning without fail, so naturally you’ll want to have it on hand. You can take care of all these basics at once at OLIVE YOUNG.

A Roundup of Recommended Items

Here’s a roundup of items I picked out myself that pair perfectly with UH Flat’s living infrastructure.

Essential items:

  • Deodorizing spray: A product that leaves a subtle scent on your clothes. It’s highly useful not only during fine-dust season but in everyday life too.
  • Basic skincare products: Among OLIVE YOUNG’s private-brand (PB) products, there are many that are inexpensive for the quality.
  • Sunscreen: When you stroll around Gangnam, you end up getting quite a lot of sun. It’s essential.
  • Body lotion & hand cream: In dry seasons, these are items you should apply every day without fail.
  • Hair care products: Shampoo, conditioner, hair essence, and so on.

The deodorizing spray in particular is perfect when combined with UH Flat’s AirDresser. If you care for your clothes with the AirDresser and then spritz on some deodorizing spray, you can keep any garment fresh, fluffy, and fragrant. As a dermatology clinic director, I always recommend this combination.

Other Shopping Recommendations — The Charm of Trendy Gangnam

Fashion & Goods

MUSINSA STANDARD Gangnam — about a 10-minute walk
A trendy casual brand, great for shopping for everyday wear like sweatshirts, hoodies, and denim. It’s a brand that fits well with Gangnam’s modern atmosphere.

ABLY — about an 8-minute walk
A shopping mall specializing in women’s fashion, carrying a wide variety of women’s clothing. It’s a perfect place to go shopping for clothes whenever you find a spare moment between work commitments.

ALAMODE — about a 12-minute walk
A store specializing in secondhand luxury goods — a place like a hidden treasure trove. As a dermatology clinic director, I visit now and then when looking for a luxury bag or accessory, and I love that you can find higher-quality items than expected at reasonable prices. I especially recommend a visit to anyone looking to buy a new handbag or wallet.

Beauty & Living

innisfree Vintage Pop-up — about a 7-minute walk
A café-style store beloved by naturalists, where you can try out innisfree products. There’s a café inside the store too, so you can take care of a cup of coffee along with your shopping.

DAISO — near Yeoksam Station Exit 3
A place that carries all kinds of reasonably priced household goods. If there’s some daily necessity you missed at UH Flat, you can go find it at Yeoksam Station right next door.

Restaurant Recommendations — Only Places I’ve Visited Myself!

As a dermatology clinic director and a Miss Universe judge, I tend to have a keen interest in food too. I’ve handpicked only the places I actually visited during my stay to recommend. For those who visit my blog, I want to share genuine reviews rather than false information.

Perfect Spots for Lunch

Mochirang — Yeoksam Station Exit 3
A place famous for its cream-sauce-based pasta and desserts. I usually prefer healthy meals, but Mochirang offers great value and the taste is solid, so I often visit for lunch or brunch. I especially recommend trying the cream pasta — the texture is smooth and the flavor is fairly deep.

Ttoiri — Gangnam Station Exit 1
An izakaya-style spot with stir-fried baby octopus (jjukkumi) and a variety of drink options. I’d recommend visiting for dinner rather than lunch. The combination of Japanese-style drinks and stir-fried baby octopus is truly perfect. My interest in Japanese cuisine grew while serving as a Miss Universe judge, and the stir-fried baby octopus at Ttoiri was genuinely delicious.

Bonjeonne Buchu Guksu — about a 12-minute walk
A specialty restaurant serving a single menu item, chive noodles (buchu guksu), where you can enjoy a deep, rich flavor. A single-menu specialty restaurant like this can only open its doors with real confidence in itself. That confidence came through in the taste.

Dinner & a Drink

Kim Samhwa Gopchang — Yeoksam Station Exit 3
A gopchang (grilled intestine) specialty restaurant known as one of the originals in Gangnam, with the samhwa gopchang and makchang being especially delicious. When I travel for work, I love enjoying Korea’s traditional foods. As a dermatology clinic director, I meet many Japanese patients too, and whenever I recommend traditional dishes like this, they truly love them.

Oraendoen Nal Hamkke — Gangnam Station Exit 5
An atmospheric bar with a wide variety of traditional liquors (jeon). It’s a perfect place for a drink. As a dermatology clinic director, I sometimes believe in the power of a single drink for stress management. Haha. Atmospheric bars like this seem to have an especially good healing effect.

So Gopchang — near Yeoksam Station
A specialty restaurant for beef gopchang and makchang, called one of the two great pillars of Gangnam alongside Kim Samhwa Gopchang. If you love meat dishes, be sure to pay a visit.

Cafés & Desserts

The Coffee Bean Gangnam Station Branch — about a 7-minute walk
A café open 24 hours, perfect for when you want a caffeine fix in the early morning. As a dermatology clinic director, I have a habit of drinking coffee while organizing my treatment journal in the early hours. For people like me, The Coffee Bean’s 24-hour operation is a real plus.

A TWOSOME PLACE Gangnam Station Branch — about an 8-minute walk
A dessert café with cakes and a variety of beverages. It’s a perfect place to drop by for a short rest while shopping.

UH Flat 1st-Floor Café — Located on the building’s first floor!
This is a point I really want to recommend. There’s a café on the first floor of the UH Flat building, so when you don’t feel like going out or you’re short on time, you can grab a coffee right next door. As a dermatology clinic director, I always value time management, and this kind of convenience is a real help.

Nearby Convenience Stores

GS25 — Right next to the UH Flat building!
You can immediately buy things you need on the spot, like bottled water, snacks, and instant noodles. This is a genuinely big advantage. Having a convenience store right next to your accommodation greatly boosts everyday convenience.

7-Eleven — Toward Gangnam Station Exit 1, about a 3-minute walk
A 24-hour convenience store with a slightly wider selection than GS25.

CU — Near Yeoksam Station Exit 3
The CU you’ll spot right away if you head out toward the Yeoksam-dong side.

Wrapping Up

In Part 3, we took a detailed look at the surroundings of UH Flat Gangnam — from shopping and restaurants to cafés and convenience stores.

To get straight to the point: the surroundings of UH Flat Gangnam are truly excellent. Within a 5-to-10-minute walk, you’ll find everything from OLIVE YOUNG to trendy fashion stores, along with a variety of restaurants and cafés.

I especially want to stress that OLIVE YOUNG is a must-visit. As a dermatology clinic director, what I always tell my patients is that true self-care lies in the details of daily life. If you combine UH Flat’s AirDresser with OLIVE YOUNG’s deodorizing spray, you can keep a clean and fragrant look wherever you go.

And I especially want to recommend Ttoiri. Stir-fried baby octopus along with a glass of Japanese-style liquor — that’s true healing. It’s only a 10-minute walk from UH Flat, which is wonderful. Enjoying food like this while finding a place to stay in Gangnam is the easiest way to raise the completeness of your trip.

In the next part, I’ll share the most important story of all — the story of UHCELL Gangnam Dermatology. In fact, this is the real reason I came to write these posts. I’ll tell you in detail about my experience visiting UHCELL Gangnam Dermatology, located on the second floor of UH Flat Gangnam, in person.

See you soon in Part 4. 😊
