Botox for Summer? Everything You Need to Know About Body Botox & Skin Botox

Hello, I’m Dr. Kim Yeon-Jin, Medical Director of UH CELL Gangnam (formerly **Dr. Petit Clinic Gangnam). 🙂 Today, I’d like to talk about Botox treatments, which are especially popular during the summer and one of the most frequently requested procedures at our Gangnam clinic.
During the hot summer months, many people find themselves dealing with excessive sweating. This can be even more frustrating in places like Seoul, where both the temperature and humidity tend to be high. Maybe you’ve washed your hair in the morning, only to have it look oily again by lunchtime.
Or perhaps you’ve hesitated to shake someone’s hand because you were worried about sweaty palms. You may have even caught yourself feeling self-conscious about your underarms whenever you raise your arms.
These are some of the most common skin-related concerns people experience during the summer in Korea.

This is where Botox can help.
To briefly explain how it works, our sweat glands are stimulated by a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. When Botox is injected, it blocks the action of acetylcholine, preventing the nerve signals that activate the sweat glands.
As a result, sweat gland activity is reduced, leading to a noticeable decrease in sweat production. In fact, Botox for underarm hyperhidrosis is an FDA-approved treatment.
This same principle is widely applied in Korean aesthetic medicine.

The procedure itself is relatively simple. It is typically completed in under 30 minutes, and because there is little to no downtime, most people can return to their normal daily activities the same day.
However, it’s important to remember that Botox is not permanent. On average, the effects last for about five months, although this can vary from person to person. This duration is also the general guideline commonly provided by clinics in Seoul.
In very rare cases, you may experience temporary muscle weakness in the treated area or compensatory sweating, where other parts of the body sweat a little more. However, these reactions are usually temporary and tend to resolve naturally over time.
These potential side effects are also thoroughly discussed during consultations in Korea.
Skin Botox, which is performed on the face, is another treatment that is especially popular during the summer months.
The mechanism is essentially the same.
By blocking acetylcholine, Skin Botox reduces both oil and sweat production, helping to control excess shine and improve makeup longevity.
Because there is less sweating, pores also appear less noticeable. This is one of the reasons why Skin Botox is considered one of the most popular treatments during the summer in Korean aesthetic medicine.
In addition, when injected superficially into the skin, Skin Botox relaxes the tiny facial muscles, which can help improve fine lines while providing a subtle lifting effect.
Since the results are often noticeable relatively quickly, it’s also a popular choice before important events or special occasions.
This is especially popular among office workers in Seoul.
So, where should you go for Botox treatment this summer? (Yes… this is where we get to talk about our clinic. 😄)

1. Choose a clinic that offers combination treatments.
Skin Botox works particularly well when combined with hyaluronic acid–based skin hydration treatments.
By reducing sweat production while replenishing moisture, this combination helps improve your skin’s overall condition and gives it a healthier, more radiant appearance.
This combination approach is considered an important part of Korean aesthetic medicine.
2. Choose a clinic with extensive clinical experience.
Although Botox is generally considered a straightforward procedure, every aesthetic treatment carries the potential for side effects.
That’s why it’s important to receive treatment from a physician with ample experience and expertise. This is especially true in areas like Gangnam, where there are so many clinics to choose from.
This is something I’ve consistently emphasized—from my time at Dr. Petit Clinic Gangnam through to the present. 🙂
Summer Botox isn’t just about reducing sweat—it can also help improve your skin’s overall condition.
If you’re concerned about excess oil, enlarged pores, and makeup longevity, it’s a treatment that’s well worth considering.
This approach has also become an increasingly popular trend throughout Korea.
This has been Dr. Kim Yeon-Jin, Medical Director, with 14 years of clinical experience and over 30,000 Botox cases.
I continue to see patients at UH CELL Gangnam, and as one of Seoul’s leading skin clinics, we remain committed to delivering highly satisfying results. 😊
