Two Days in Seoul: What You Can Actually Get Done

Hello, I’m Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, Chief Physician at UH CELL Clinic Gangnam. A lot of the messages we get are from people landing Friday night and flying out Sunday. The question is always some version of “what’s the fastest-recovery treatment.” My answer is usually the same: there’s no single procedure that heals unusually fast for everyone. What matters is matching the treatment to the days you actually have left, and how the first 48 hours after your appointment are managed.

What fits inside your remaining days

Downtime guidance from procedure manufacturers and aftercare literature tends to cluster around similar windows. Here’s the rough shape of it:

Days remaining Procedures typically considered
2–3 days Botox, skin boosters, laser toning
3–5 days HIFU, radiofrequency lifting (e.g., Thermage), filler (excluding under-eye and lip areas)
5–7 days Under-eye and lip filler
1–2 weeks Thread lifting (based on return to normal social activity)

We use this same framework as a starting point in consultations, before anything is decided on the actual skin.

Why the same procedure doesn’t heal the same way twice

Energy-based lifting devices are generally described as needing about a week for visible swelling to settle, but that’s an average, not a promise. Skin thickness, how close small blood vessels sit to the surface, and even a patient’s condition on the day of treatment can all shift how quickly any single person recovers — a pattern echoed across most post-procedure care guidance rather than being specific to one device. That’s part of why we don’t book a schedule around a procedure name alone. At both our Gangnam and Seocho locations, the chief physician on site examines the skin directly before deciding what fits the days a patient has left, and at what intensity.

The 48 hours after treatment matter more than the procedure itself

Bruising after filler injections is commonly described as resolving within about a week, though it can take up to two weeks in some cases, and bruising after Botox tends to fade within three to seven days according to aftercare guidance from several U.S. dermatology practices. Skin booster marks tend to be smaller, though how quickly they fade varies by person and isn’t something we’d put a fixed number on without seeing the skin. Regardless of which of these you get, aftercare instructions consistently point to the same variable: icing within the first 48 hours. Alcohol, sauna use, and intense exercise dilate blood vessels and can make swelling and bruising worse, which is why aftercare guidance commonly recommends holding off on strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours after filler.

How those 48 hours are spent is the part patients can’t do much about once they’re back at a hotel room alone. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works by delivering 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure, which raises the amount of oxygen dissolved directly in blood plasma — enough to reach capillary-level tissue that red blood cells alone struggle to penetrate. A structured narrative review of the hyperbaric oxygen literature describes this mechanism as supporting reduced tissue swelling and faster cellular repair after surgical procedures, and a small clinical study using hyperbaric oxygen after eyelid surgery has specifically measured its effect on swelling and bruising at set intervals after treatment.

Our Gangnam and Seocho clinics operate as on-site facilities inside UHC group hotel buildings, so a patient can move from treatment room to a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and a vitamin IV drip in the same building — those two are provided free for hotel guests. For someone working with a two- or three-day window, not having to travel between a clinic and separate lodging for recovery care is itself part of managing downtime.

FAQ

Can I get filler done on a two-night, three-day trip?

Filler outside the under-eye and lip areas is generally associated with a downtime window in the three-to-five day range, so it can be worth discussing depending on your schedule. Individual healing speed varies, though, so this needs to be confirmed after an in-person skin check.

Can I wear makeup the day after a skin booster?

Skin booster marks and swelling often fade within a day or two according to general aftercare guidance, but avoiding cleansing and makeup on the treatment day itself is still recommended.

When would I use the hyperbaric oxygen chamber?

It’s typically considered right after a procedure that involves swelling or requires active recovery support. At our Gangnam location, it’s provided free for hotel guests, and we go over the option as part of the treatment plan during consultation.

If you’d like more detail on how we handle safety checks for filler and Botox specifically, our clinic has published a separate guide on that topic. Consultations at both our Gangnam and Seocho clinics include interpretation support in multiple languages.
