Aftercare in Gangnam: From Treatment to Your Trip Home

  • Skin Care

I recommend planning aftercare in three stages: immediate soothing care at the clinic, where and how you will rest that day, and how you will monitor your recovery before and after returning home. Our Gangnam clinic is on the second and third floors of the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel building. UHC hotel guests may choose either a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV infusion at no charge. If you use both, the vitamin IV infusion costs KRW 55,000.

Hello, I am Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, Chief Physician at UHCELL Clinic Gangnam.

When you look for a clinic that provides aftercare, it helps to separate the different stages of care. The first 30 minutes after treatment, the evening at your accommodation, and the following days of monitoring redness or swelling involve different needs.

If you are visiting Seoul for a short stay, I recommend considering where and how each stage will fit into your trip. Here is what to ask about, along with the arrangements at our Gangnam clinic.

Start with the treatment and your schedule

When planning aftercare, I recommend starting with the treatment you will receive and its intensity, rather than the clinic’s name alone.

Ask about downtime before deciding on a procedure, and discuss whether the plan fits your stay. At our clinic, we design treatment around an assessment of your individual skin condition rather than recommending a fixed package for everyone.

If you have a full day of outdoor sightseeing planned for the day after treatment, mention it during your consultation so you can discuss sun exposure and aftercare instructions in advance.

Stage 1: Immediate care at the clinic

Immediately after treatment, allow time to have your skin checked and receive instructions about your next steps, including washing your face, applying makeup, and leaving the clinic. Ask where you will spend this time as well.

At our Gangnam clinic, treatment can take place in a private room. We also have on-site interpreters who support Japanese, Chinese, and English. Aftercare instructions need to be understood clearly, so please ask to review them in a language you understand.

What to request before leaving

I recommend asking for the following:

  1. A record of the treatment name and treated areas, which you can show to a healthcare professional after returning home.
  2. Instructions on when you may wash your face, apply makeup, shower, drink alcohol, and use a sauna.
  3. The names of any topical products or medicines you are advised to use, along with how long to use them.
  4. Clear guidance on which symptoms mean you should contact the clinic.

Stage 2: Where and how you will rest that day

When planning a short trip, I recommend considering the hours after treatment as well. Plan how you will reach your accommodation and where you will rest.

Our Gangnam clinic is on the second and third floors of UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, at 13 Teheran-ro 8-gil, WD Building. The clinic is inside the UHC hotel building, rather than in a separate building. Our Seocho branch is also inside a UHC hotel, UH FLAT The Seocho.

If you are staying at the same hotel, consider this shared location when planning your rest after treatment. For more on planning this part of your stay, see our article on treatment and recovery logistics.

Please check the promotion conditions when planning your stay: eligibility is limited to UHC hotel guests. The benefit covers either 30 minutes in the oxygen chamber or a vitamin IV infusion, not both. Guests who use both options pay KRW 55,000 for the vitamin IV infusion.

I want to be clear about the role of these options: they do not replace the aftercare instructions for your procedure. Please discuss whether and when either option is appropriate for your treatment and skin condition.

Stage 3: Monitoring before and after returning home

Before leaving Seoul, I recommend preparing a few things to help you keep track of your recovery:

  • Photos from treatment day and the following day: Take them in the same lighting and from the same angle to make later changes easier to compare.
  • Your treatment record and written aftercare instructions: Bring these if you seek care at home, and tell the healthcare professional which treatment you received and which areas were treated.
  • A list of medicines you take: Share this if you receive further medical care after returning home.
  • Contact information: Confirm how to reach the clinic if you have a question after departure.

If you are concerned about seeking medical care after returning home, having your treatment record ready is a practical step you can take before you leave.

Symptoms that need prompt attention

Please do not wait to contact the clinic where you received treatment if you notice:

  • Pain or swelling that becomes progressively worse.
  • Redness accompanied by blisters, pus, or warmth.
  • Skin in the treated area turning white or a dark bluish color.

If you have difficulty breathing, dizziness, or a change in consciousness, seek emergency care immediately. While in Korea, call 119 or go to the nearest emergency department.
