Can You Get Recovery Care the Same Day in Seoul?
2026/10/01
- Skin Care
Whether you can move straight into recovery care on the same day as your procedure depends on how deep the procedure reaches, the order you combine same-day treatments in, and where you spend the hours right after. Our Gangnam clinic sits on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam hotel building, and guests staying at that hotel can choose one free option afterward: a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip.
Hello, I’m Dr. Kim Yeonjin, director of our Gangnam clinic.
Patients visiting Seoul for a short stay ask me a version of the same question almost every week. Can I get recovery care right after the procedure, and where do I rest afterward? The medical half is what’s safe to add to the skin on the same day. The logistical half is where you spend the next few hours with a face that may still be red or swollen. I’ll walk through both, in the order I’d check them in a consultation.
The Layer Your Procedure Reaches Sets the Same-Day Plan
Skin runs from the epidermis down through the dermis, the subcutaneous fat, and the muscle layer underneath, known as the SMAS. Different devices and injectables reach different layers, and that difference decides what the skin looks like right after treatment and what can reasonably be added the same day. The table below groups the procedures we offer by category. The actual plan for any patient comes after a skin assessment.
| Category | Example procedures | Layer it mainly targets | What to confirm in consultation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Focused ultrasound lifting | Ulthera | Down to the SMAS layer beneath the dermis | Order, if an injectable is added the same day |
| Radiofrequency lifting | Thermage, Oligio | Dermis | Whether heat energy overlaps the same area twice |
| Microneedling radiofrequency | Potenza | Dermis, through micro-channels | Aftercare until the surface channels close |
| Skin booster injections | Rejuran Healer, Skinvive, Juvelook | Dermis | Injection marks and swelling, sequencing with heat-based treatments |
Two procedures can both be called “lifting” and still reach entirely different depths. That’s why the first real answer to “can I get recovery care the same day” is which procedure, on which area, at what depth.
How We Sequence Multiple Procedures on the Same Day
Patients traveling from abroad often want to fit several procedures into one visit. There is published guidance on this. A 2016 international consensus statement from 15 aesthetic specialists, indexed on PubMed, set out an order for combining botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, and focused ultrasound devices such as Ulthera. The panel recommended doing the focused ultrasound treatment before the injectable on the same visit, and suggested spacing separate sessions one to two weeks apart so that any reaction settles and the result can be properly assessed before the next step.
Dr. Jeremy Green, a dermatologist writing in the dermatology education outlet Next Steps in Dermatology in 2021, described a similar approach. Because it isn’t yet well established how collagen-stimulating injectables respond to heat energy applied afterward, he said he generally prefers doing the energy-based treatment first and the injectable afterward. He also described an exception. If the two procedures target different areas, or if the energy device doesn’t reach the same layer as the injectable, the order can be flexible.
It’s worth naming the limits of this evidence too. The consensus statement reflects the opinions of 15 specialists pooled together, so it doesn’t automatically cover every device and injectable combination on the market. We treat it as a starting point rather than a rule that fits every case, then decide the actual same-day plan in consultation based on your skin condition and how long you’re staying.
What to Expect From the Oxygen Chamber and the IV Drip
When patients say “recovery care” after a procedure, many are picturing an oxygen chamber or a vitamin IV drip. We offer both, and the terms are specific: UHC hotel guests can choose one of the two free of charge, a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip. Using both the same day means the IV drip is billed at 55,000 KRW. Full current terms are posted on our promotion page.
It helps to set expectations honestly here. Dr. Brent A. Bauer, research director of Mayo Clinic’s integrative medicine and health program, wrote in Mayo Clinic Press in 2024 that many of the claims made about intravenous vitamin therapy, including faster immune recovery or reduced fatigue, rest on limited evidence. The Merck Manual Consumer Version (2025) makes a similar point: very few studies have tested high-dose intravenous vitamins in people who aren’t actually deficient. Oxygen-based therapy carries a narrow evidence base too. Medically reviewed by Dr. Robert H. Shmerling, Harvard Health Publishing explains that hyperbaric oxygen therapy is an approved treatment for serious conditions such as decompression sickness and carbon monoxide poisoning, but that claims made for several other uses aren’t backed by evidence.
Given that, I present the oxygen chamber and the IV drip to patients as a comfortable way to spend the window while post-procedure redness or warmth settles, without having to go outside. If you’re considering the IV drip, let us know your health conditions and any medications beforehand, since it involves a needle.
A Same-Day Timeline at Our Gangnam Clinic
Our Gangnam location is inside the UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam building (WD Building, Teheran-ro 8-gil 13), on the 2nd and 3rd floors. It operates as part of the hotel rather than as a separate clinic that happens to partner with it. That means a guest staying there can return to a room in the same building afterward instead of heading back out into the street. Treatment rooms are private, and staff who can communicate in Japanese, Chinese, and English are on site.
Here’s what a same-day visit can look like for a guest staying at the UHC hotel. Actual timing depends on the procedure and the day’s schedule.
| Step | Location | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Consultation and skin assessment | Gangnam clinic (hotel floor 2-3) | Skin check, deciding the day’s procedure and order |
| 2. Procedure | Private treatment room | The planned procedure is carried out |
| 3. Recovery choice | Gangnam clinic | 30-minute oxygen chamber or vitamin IV drip (free for UHC hotel guests) |
| 4. Rest | Hotel room, same building | Resting indoors while redness or warmth settles |
| 5. Follow-up | During your stay | Any concerning symptoms checked before departure |
Our Seocho clinic, inside UH FLAT The Seocho, follows the same building layout.
Planning for the Day After, Especially on a Short Trip
Handling the procedure day well doesn’t help much if the next day is spent outdoors in strong sun. A literature review published through the National Institutes of Health’s PMC archive looked at sunscreen use after laser and light-based treatments. It found that the skin barrier is temporarily weaker after these treatments, and that starting broad-spectrum sunscreen early supported recovery and was linked to less inflammation. That review covered laser and light treatments specifically, so it doesn’t automatically extend to every procedure we offer. Still, if your day after involves a long outdoor itinerary, it’s worth going over sun protection in consultation.
The shorter your trip, the more I’d encourage scheduling procedures earlier rather than later in the stay. If your combination needs that one-to-two-week gap the consensus statement describes, splitting it across this visit and a future one is usually the safer route rather than trying to fit everything into a single trip.
Check Points Before Your Consultation
- Note which procedure and area you’re considering. The depth it reaches is the starting point for the day’s plan.
- If you want an energy-based treatment and an injectable on the same day, ask about the order in consultation.
- Ask whether your combination needs a one-to-two-week gap, and plan separate visits if it does.
- Confirm whether your hotel is a UHC property. The free choice between the oxygen chamber and the IV drip applies to UHC hotel guests.
- If you’re choosing the IV drip, share your current medications and health conditions beforehand.
- If your day after the procedure involves a long outdoor schedule, plan sun protection as part of the same consultation.
Current terms for the recovery benefit are posted on our promotion page, and the right order of procedures for your schedule is something we work out together in consultation.
FAQ
Can I still be treated at the Gangnam clinic if I’m not staying at the UHC hotel?
Yes, consultations and procedures don’t depend on where you’re staying. The free choice between the 30-minute oxygen chamber and the vitamin IV drip is specifically for UHC hotel guests. If you’re staying elsewhere, it’s worth planning your travel time and route after the procedure in advance.
Will I be able to follow the same-day recovery instructions if I don’t speak Korean?
Staff who can communicate in Japanese, Chinese, and English are on site at the Gangnam clinic. If anything about your aftercare instructions isn’t clear, you’re welcome to ask again until it is.
Should I pick the oxygen chamber or the IV drip?
As explained above, both are ways to spend your rest period comfortably rather than treatments with strong proven effects. If a needle makes you uneasy, the oxygen chamber is the simpler choice. If you’d prefer the IV drip, tell us about your medications and health conditions first. Using both the same day means the IV drip costs 55,000 KRW.
What should I avoid while resting in my room after the procedure?
Follow the specific aftercare instructions for your procedure first, since they vary by treatment. If redness or warmth lasts noticeably longer than expected or gets worse, check in with us before you fly home.
※ Skin response and recovery time vary by individual. Please consult a physician for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
