Skin Assessment in Gangnam: 5 Ways to Prepare

A personalized treatment plan should begin with your skin condition, not a device name. Before your consultation, organize your treatment history and the time you can allow for recovery. At our Gangnam clinic, located inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, we plan treatment around an assessment of your individual skin condition.

Hello, I am Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, Chief Physician at UHCELL Clinic Gangnam.

If you are looking for a clinic that assesses your skin before recommending treatment, I would emphasize one distinction: assessment is the starting point, not the complete plan. The next step is to connect your skin condition with the changes you want and decide which treatments, combinations, and sequence are appropriate.

Here, I will explain what a useful treatment plan should address and the five things you can prepare before your consultation.

What should a skin assessment lead to?

If you are concerned about sagging, wrinkles, dullness, and reduced firmness at the same time, a plan needs to do more than list those concerns. I recommend discussing the following questions.

What should take priority?

When you have several concerns, identifying priorities helps give the plan a clear focus. Explain which areas bother you most, alongside the skin findings discussed during your consultation. This helps define what to concentrate on during this visit.

Which treatments should be combined, and in what order?

Our Gangnam clinic offers treatments including Ultherapy PRIME, Thermage FLX, Sofwave, Potenza, and Oligio X, as well as skin booster treatments.

Rather than starting with a device name, I recommend discussing the combination and sequence in relation to your assessment. The aim is to build a plan around your skin condition rather than fit your concerns into a predetermined treatment choice.

What belongs in this visit, and what can wait?

Trying to address every concern during one visit is not always the most practical approach. It may make more sense to separate treatments into those suitable for your current schedule and those to consider at a later visit.

Skin responses and recovery times vary. I recommend deciding on a combination after your assessment, with your available recovery time in mind.

What information should you keep?

Before your consultation, make a record of the types of treatment you have had and when you received them. After treatment, keep the instructions you are given so you can refer to them later.

Five things to prepare before your consultation

Your skin’s appearance is one part of the assessment. I recommend bringing the following information to help inform the plan.

  1. Your main concerns and priorities. Choose one or two areas that matter most to you. If you have photographs taken from angles that show your concerns, bring them to the consultation.
  2. Your recent treatment history. Write down treatment names, the areas treated, and the dates. Bring any relevant instructions or receipts you have.
  3. Your medications and supplements. Bring a list, photographs of medication packaging, or prescription information. Do not stop taking medication on your own. Discuss it during your consultation first.
  4. Previous skin reactions and allergies. Share any reactions you have had to treatments, cosmetics, or medications.
  5. Your travel schedule and departure date. If you are visiting Korea, explain which dates are available for treatment and when you leave. This information helps determine what can reasonably fit into your visit while allowing for recovery.

For a short stay, your schedule matters too

Many of our patients visit Seoul for short stays from Japan, Taiwan, China, and English-speaking countries. For these patients, an important question alongside skin condition is where and how much time they can allow for recovery after treatment.

Our Gangnam clinic is on the second and third floors of the WD Building, inside UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam, at 13 Teheran-ro 8-gil. For patients staying at this hotel, the clinic and their accommodation are in the same building. Treatment can be provided in a private room.

We also offer an oxygen chamber and vitamin IV infusions. UHC hotel guests may choose one complimentary option: a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV infusion. If they use both, the vitamin IV infusion costs KRW 55,000. This benefit is specifically for UHC hotel guests, not hotel guests in general, and the detailed promotion conditions apply.

For more on these logistics, see our related guide, Gangnam Lifting and Anti-Aging: Planning Treatment and Recovery, available in Korean.

What language support is available in Gangnam?

Our Gangnam clinic has interpretation staff who support Japanese, Chinese, and English. If any part of an explanation is unclear, please ask for clarification during your consultation.

For context on my background, I graduated from Seoul National University Graduate School and completed internship training at Seoul National University Hospital. Our official physician profile also lists me as an Allergan Korea Faculty Member. These credentials are separate from dermatology specialist certification.

FAQ

Does a skin measurement result determine the treatment?

No. Measurements and examination findings are part of the information used to make a decision. Even with similar skin findings, plans can differ according to the changes you want, your recent treatment history, and the time available for recovery. I recommend preparing the five items above so these factors can be discussed together.

Can one visit address both sagging and wrinkles completely?

I would not assume that one visit can resolve every concern. It may be more appropriate to divide treatment between your current visit and a later one, taking recovery demands and your travel schedule into account. Ask what is realistic within the time you have available.

Are both the oxygen chamber and vitamin IV free for hotel guests?

No. The benefit applies to UHC hotel guests, who may choose either a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV infusion free of charge. If both are used, the vitamin IV infusion costs KRW 55,000.

If you would like to understand how your skin assessment can become a treatment plan, I recommend bringing these five preparation items to your Gangnam consultation. Together, they provide a starting point for discussing your priorities and what fits your visit.
