What K-pop Idols Really Get Done in Gangnam Clinics

- Skin Care
There is no way to confirm exactly which treatments a K-pop idol receives at a Gangnam clinic unless the idol or their agency discloses it directly. What we do consult on at our Gangnam clinic falls into a few treatment families — ultrasound and radiofrequency lifting, RF microneedling, and injectable skin boosters. A more useful starting point than chasing “the same treatment as an idol” is matching a diagnosis of your own skin to the schedule you have in Korea.
Hello, I am Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, Chief Physician at UH CELL Clinic Gangnam. “What do K-pop idols actually get done?” is a question I hear often from people researching skin treatments in Korea from abroad. Let me separate what public information can and cannot tell you, then walk through the treatment families we actually consult on in Gangnam and what to prepare before your appointment.
Why an idol’s treatment list is hard to confirm
Which clinic a celebrity visits, and what was done there, is personal medical information. Unless it is disclosed on a broadcast or on the person’s own social media, most “treatment lists” circulating online cannot be verified. For that reason, this article does not discuss any specific individual’s visit where there is no public, confirmed source.
Instead of copying an “idol treatment list,” I recommend breaking down the result you see on screen into the underlying skin concern. “Glowing skin” may be about texture and hydration. “A defined jawline” may be about firmness and sagging. Even when two people want the same impression, their starting skin condition is different, so the treatment they need is different too.
What K-beauty videos actually show you
If you have seen Gangnam’s beauty spots featured in a K-beauty video or on social media, it is worth separating two different things before applying what you saw to your own plan: whether the video is showing a skincare product you buy at a store, or a procedure performed at a clinic.
Skincare and home care are something you do every day. A clinic procedure is a medical act performed after a clinician’s assessment. The two are not interchangeable — cosmetics alone will not replicate a procedure’s effect, and a procedure alone does not replace daily skin care.
Treatment families we consult on in Gangnam
The table below groups what we treat by concern rather than by brand name. I’d rather you look at which approach addresses which concern than memorize a list of device names.
| Concern | Treatment family | What we offer | What we review at consultation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sagging, jawline firmness | Ultrasound energy lifting | Ultherapy PRIME, Sofwave, HIFU | Degree and location of sagging, tolerance for discomfort |
| Skin firmness, fine lines | Radiofrequency lifting | Thermage FLX, OligioX | Skin thickness and target area |
| Pores, skin texture | RF microneedling | Potenza | Current skin condition and your schedule after treatment |
| Texture, hydration, glow | Injectable skin boosters | Rejuran, Skinvive, Juvelook Volume, skin boosters | Injection site and timing if bruising or needle marks appear |
Even within the same family, devices and products differ in mechanism and depth of effect. Whether you receive one treatment alone, or a lifting treatment combined with a skin booster, is decided after a diagnosis — not before. That is also why we design a treatment plan around an individual skin assessment rather than offering a fixed package.
For reference, I completed graduate study at Seoul National University and trained at Seoul National University Hospital. I am an Allergan faculty member for Juvéderm and Botox, and a Potenza and Ultherapy Z Key Doctor. I also lecture for the Korean Society of Clinical Cosmetic Medicine and hold membership in the Korean Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Laser Medicine.
If you’re visiting for only a few days, schedule first
Most patients coming from abroad need to complete treatment and recovery within a short stay before flying home. Because of that, “which treatment is good” matters less than “can I recover within my schedule.” How long redness, swelling, or needle marks last depends on the treatment type and your own skin, so please tell us your return flight date, any photoshoots, and other important appointments at consultation. If a treatment doesn’t fit your timeline, postponing it to a later visit is also a reasonable option.
Our Gangnam clinic is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of UH FLAT SIGNATURE Gangnam. Because we operate as an on-site facility inside the same UHC group hotel, guests staying there can move from their room to the treatment floor without leaving the building. Treatments take place in private rooms, and we have staff on site who can support consultations in Japanese, Chinese, and English. I wrote in more detail about how to check privacy and patient flow in Celebrity-Level Privacy: Start with the Patient Flow at a Gangnam Clinic.
On recovery care: UHC hotel guests can choose one complimentary option — either a 30-minute oxygen chamber session or a vitamin IV drip. If you use both, the vitamin IV is priced at 55,000 KRW. Please check the promotion page for the exact conditions.
What to prepare before consultation
- Photos of the area you’re concerned about: a front view and a side view in natural light are enough.
- Your travel dates: arrival and departure, plus any photoshoots or important commitments scheduled after treatment.
- Recent treatments: name, area, and date. A receipt or photo helps if you don’t remember the details.
- Current medications and allergies: names and doses, along with any past reaction to medication or anesthesia.
- The look you want: reference photos are welcome, though I can’t promise an identical result — we work out together what’s realistic for your own skin.
Symptoms that need immediate attention
If you have difficulty breathing after a treatment, sudden swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or hives spreading across your body, do not wait. Call emergency services or go to the nearest emergency room right away. Even outside an emergency, if pain keeps worsening or redness and swelling keep growing instead of improving, take a photo and contact the clinic where you were treated as soon as possible.
FAQ
If I know which clinic an idol visits, can I get the same result?
Not necessarily. Even with the same treatment, differences in skin thickness, degree of sagging, and overall skin condition change the result. Bringing a clear picture of your own concerns and schedule to consultation is more useful than the name of a clinic.
Can I get lifting and a skin booster in the same visit?
Depending on the diagnosis and your recovery schedule, some patients do both together, and others are better off splitting them across visits. Let us know your return date in advance so we can plan what fits within it.
Can I have a consultation if I don’t speak Korean?
Our Gangnam clinic has staff who can support consultations in Japanese, Chinese, and English. If you need another language, please let us know when booking.
Do I need to stay at the hotel to get a treatment?
The oxygen chamber and vitamin IV benefit is specifically for UHC hotel guests. Please confirm the relationship between your hotel stay and your treatment consultation when you book.
If your Gangnam trip dates are set, prepare photos of the area you’re concerned about along with your return date and reach out to UH CELL Clinic for a consultation.
