A smooth base in the morning can look dotted around the nose and cheeks by afternoon. This does not necessarily mean that pores suddenly became larger. Excess oil, lifted surface flakes, dehydration, and reduced firmness create different patterns. We ask which area breaks down first several hours after makeup application.<\/p>\n

    Record location and timing<\/h2>\n

    Note whether the change is limited to the sides of the nose or spreads across the cheeks, and whether shine or tightness appears first. Photos after cleansing, just after makeup, and in the afternoon under the same light are useful.<\/p>\n

    Dark material within pores and comedones can look similar to foundation catching on dry surface flakes. Avoid rubbing or squeezing before the pattern is identified.<\/p>\n

    Separate oil from surface flakes<\/h2>\n

    Using a harsh cleanser and scrub together because of oiliness can increase redness and stinging. Layering heavy products over lifted flakes can also cause makeup to pill or collect around pore edges.<\/p>\n

    Record newly added cleanser, exfoliant, primer, and foundation, including order and frequency. Change one variable at a time so the trigger is easier to identify.<\/p>\n

    Review hydration and firmness<\/h2>\n

    A rough, dehydrated surface reflects light unevenly and can make pores more visible. Accumulated sun exposure and changes in skin firmness may also affect their appearance.<\/p>\n

    Start with gentle cleansing, a moisturizer your skin tolerates, and daily sun protection. Pause strong exfoliation while the skin feels red or stings.<\/p>\n

    Set priorities after an examination<\/h2>\n

    A consultation reviews oil distribution, comedones or inflammation, surface flakes, hydration, firmness around the pores, skin thickness, and recent procedures. A procedure or treatment course should not be selected from a photograph alone.<\/p>\n
