Dr. Kim Yeon-jin of UHCELL Clinic Gangnam explains. | 슬러그:holiday-before-procedure-recovery-time-gangnam | 태그: -->

Hello, this is Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, director of UHCELL Clinic Gangnam.

The Chuseok holiday is one week away. This is the question I hear most often in consultations right now.

“Can I get just one treatment before the holiday?”

Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes it is better to wait until after the holiday.

What decides it is less the type of treatment and more the number of days you have left.

Today I want to explain what we count before choosing a treatment.

Why we start by counting days

After a treatment, visible changes such as redness, swelling, or small crusts remain for a few days.

How long they last depends on the treatment, and it varies from person to person even with the same treatment.

Holidays tend to concentrate the days when you see people and take photos. So in consultations we ask three things first.

What is scheduled during the holiday (family gatherings, photos, long travel)

Up to which day makeup can cover the area

Whether you can rest the day after the treatment

With 7 days left, the range of options is wide. With 2 days, it narrows.

Counting the days first removes plans that were never going to fit.

Visible time differs by treatment

It helps to sort treatments into three groups.

Redness for about a day — care with little surface disruption. Redness often lasts from a few hours to about 1 day.

Crusts visible for several days — treatments that address moles or spots one by one. Small crusts usually stay about 5 to 10 days, and they come off at different times depending on the area.

Swelling first — treatments using injections or heat. Swelling often lasts 1 to 3 days and then settles.

These numbers are averages, and individual results vary.

That is why, in a consultation, your own previous recovery matters more to us than the average.

Of these three, the group that leaves crusts is the one I watch most carefully before a holiday. During the holiday it is hard to come in and have the timing checked, and picking at a crust early can leave a mark.

How to divide the remaining week

If the holiday is 7 days away, we divide the week like this.

Treatments that leave crusts go earlier, so there is room for them to settle before the holiday.

Treatments where swelling is a concern are better finished 3 days before the holiday.

Care that leaves only redness can sometimes be scheduled 1 to 2 days before.

There are also clear cases where waiting until after the holiday is the better choice.

When little time is left, the intensity has to be lowered. One session at a lowered setting is sometimes less useful than keeping to the original plan after the holiday.

We also consider that visiting the clinic during the holiday is difficult, because questions after a treatment are harder to check right away.

If fewer than 3 days remain, I do not recommend a treatment that leaves crusts this time. Waiting is the better choice.

What to prepare before your consultation

To make good use of a short consultation, four notes are enough.

The days during the holiday when you will meet many people

How many days redness or crusting lasted after your last treatment

Medications and supplements you are taking

The one area you most want to address this time

The second one helps the most.

Recovery speed differs between people even for the same treatment, so your own record is the closest guide we have.

If you stack several treatments together because you want everything done before the holiday, the recovery periods overlap. Spacing them out is the safer path.

In a consultation, this is the first thing I look at. It is more accurate than an average.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The holiday is a week away. Can I have a mole removed?

It depends on the area and the number. Small crusts often remain 5 to 10 days, which can overlap with the holiday. In the consultation we look at reducing the number or moving some to after the holiday.

Is there any care I can have right before the holiday?

Care with little surface disruption sometimes settles within 1 day. It still depends on your skin condition and recent treatment history, so we confirm this in the consultation.

What should I do if redness remains during the holiday?

The basics are avoiding UV exposure and hot environments and keeping the skin moisturized. If swelling or pain increases, please call us first even during the holiday.

For a treatment before the holiday, how many days remain comes before what to have done. Counting the days and spacing out the order removes plans that do not fit.

When you prepare for a consultation, please tell us your holiday schedule along with how long recovery took after your last treatment. We will check your current skin condition and separate what is possible this week from what is better after the holiday.

Consultations are available in English, Japanese, and Chinese.

※ Individual results and recovery periods may vary.
