If you don’t remember a name, bring a photo of the prescription or package.

Before I discuss volume, I ask whether you bruise easily, whether nose or gum bleeding lasts longer than expected, and what you currently take. Preparing for filler treatment does not mean stopping medicine on your own.

Start with the bleeding conditions along the injection path

Filler treatment places a needle or cannula through the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Swelling, tenderness, and bruising can occur at the injection site. A bleeding disorder or medicine that affects clotting needs a separate review.

FDA patient labeling for a hyaluronic acid filler notes that aspirin, warfarin, and other medicines that affect bleeding may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Approved areas and precautions differ by product, so one label should not be copied to every filler.

I review your health, the injection area, and why you take each medicine—not just the product name.

Bring photos of medicine packages and supplement labels

List the name, reason for use, daily frequency, and time of the last dose. Add the date if the dose recently changed.

Aspirin and warfarin are not the only items worth mentioning. Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory medicines, high-dose vitamin E, and St. John’s wort may also matter. Don’t leave out a product just because it is sold as a supplement.

Being on the list does not mean every item must be stopped.

Do not stop a prescription to fit a cosmetic appointment

Do not pause medicine used for a heart or cerebrovascular condition simply because you are worried about bruising. The clinician who prescribed it should decide whether it can be changed and when.

I don’t recommend skipping important treatment to keep a filler appointment. If the risk cannot be adjusted appropriately, changing the area or technique—or postponing—is the better plan.

Tell us if bleeding lasted longer than expected after a previous injection or operation.

Skin and general health are checked again on the day

A wound, inflamed acne, rash, or suspected infection at the injection site needs attention first. Also report a sudden increase in bruising or nosebleeds that are harder to stop than usual.

The area, product, and injection depth vary even when treatments share the same “filler” label. Bleeding history alone cannot determine suitability.

Skin response and recovery differ between individuals. Share any important upcoming event during the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does taking aspirin automatically rule out fillers?

No. The reason, dose, and injection area need review. Do not stop it without advice from the prescriber.

Should I mention supplements?

Yes. Products such as high-dose vitamin E may affect bruising or bleeding. Bring the name and dose.

What if I do not know the medicine name?

Photograph the prescription, medicine package, and both sides of supplement labels. Note the frequency and last dose.

Medication review is not a reason to cancel every filler treatment. It helps avoid unnecessary interruption and clarifies the conditions that may affect bleeding and bruising.

At UHCELL Clinic Gangnam, we review the reason for each medicine, the injection area, current skin, and your schedule.

※ Individual results and recovery periods may vary. We recommend consulting a specialist for an accurate medical diagnosis.

This was Dr. Kim Yeon-jin, Chief Physician at UHCELL Clinic Gangnam.

Consultation is available in English, Japanese, and Chinese.

Parking: 3 hours of free parking is available in the building.
